This rare XXXL pecan set has such extraordinary properties, we're reluctant to let it go...

Crafted from a rare specimen of pecan this bowl has an abundance of amazing black-line spalting (fine ink like lines) all over. An heirloom any yarning wood aficionado would appreciate. Interesting patterns are outlined and accented by fine black lines set into buttery and cocoa wood tones. Read more about prized spalting on our blog here.

Front and center is Bob’s signature star groove; graceful, silky and functional. A generous band of aquamarine sparkle inlay is set into the rim. A curved raised base adds heft to the bowl bottom where needed for stability. A bit of extra depth, makes this vessel perfect for most yarn projects, with plenty of room to spare when the work is set aside.

Measurements are whopping 12-1/2” diameter (top opening) x a deep 4-7/8” (od). Circumference is approx. 36” at the midpoint. Find the right size yarn bowl for you with more on how we measure our yarn bowls using diameter vs. circumference here.

So versatile! Two medium balls of worsted, will roll nicely as shown. Or, stash-bust a bunch of smaller balls pulling from the top with its little glass cup/ub as shown. Sock, mitten or scarf projects, and multiple balls of fine cotton stay organized and ready to pull

To encourage spalting; aging the log alone took over a year. Next, the bowl was rough-turned and set aside to slowly dry for eleven+ months before finishing could start. Finally, three weeks and twenty finish/hand-buffing cycles made this yarn bowl silky smooth to the touch. A final coat of museum wax is added to resist fingerprints. Artisan signed and numbered; with species (Pecan); #1212. Dimensions listed are approximate. A very special gift.
